This is a great site. My Dad was born here in 1916 and worked at Penallta Colliery. I hope to visit later in the year.

I used to know Ken, Marina and their daughter Susan Cooper who were from Hengoed. I think Ken was a butcher, does anyone know if they are still in the area?

Hello, Hengoed! On my way to your town on or around the 16th. I will be a guest of one of your citizens, Phil Stadden. Really looking forward to it. Can't wait to walk across the viaduct and see the Penallta Colliery. Can't wait, Syl

Hi all Hi, especially to Lee Powell, Angela Cook and Michael Cook. I bumped into Donna Drayton a few years ago and she was well. Your names all seem so 'recent' to me even though it was many years ago. Best wishes to you all Paul

Just moved to the beautiful village of hengoed from cardiff. Originally a mid wales boy. Loving how friendly and helpful the people in the area are. Stunning surroudings and neighbouring towns, awesome viaduct and lots of fantastic walks on my doorstep. Looking forward to bringing my daughter up in such a warm friendly place.

I once spent a whole weekend as a guest in Hengoed and I've never been able to forget it ... for some reason it has been truly and indelibly etched in my mind. Must have sincerely made quite an impression. Oddly I have never been back there since then. Nice to know it's all still there.
